<h3>ChainGuard: Closing the Detection Gap Between a Scam's First Victim and Everyone After</h3> Project Overview ChainGuard is an open-source verification tool that lets anyone check a wallet or contract address against a community-sourced blacklist before signing a transaction. It sits at a layer web3 security tooling largely ignores: the gap between when a scam first appears on-chain and when the wider community becomes aware of it. Existing tools like block explorers and wallet security extensions rely on data that is often delayed, fragmented across multiple sources, or locked behind proprietary APIs. ChainGuard consolidates public scam-report data into a single, fast, auditable lookup, and lays the foundation for a community-verified reporting layer on top of it. The Problem: Fragmented, Delayed, or Closed Threat Data When a new scam contract or draining wallet appears, the information that it is malicious usually exists somewhere within minutes, on a forum post, a security researcher's tweet, or a scam-tracking database, but it is not consistently reachable at the moment a user is about to sign a transaction. A first-time user has no simple way to check "has anyone flagged this address" before it is too late. Existing scam databases are often siloed, inconsistently updated, or built for security researchers rather than everyday users, meaning the people most at risk have the least access to the warning signs that already exist. The Solution: A Fast, Open Lookup Layer ChainGuard makes existing scam-report data actually usable at the point of decision. A user pastes an address before signing a transaction and gets an immediate, clear answer: flagged, unflagged, or insufficient data. All lookup logic and aggregated data are open source and auditable, so no single team or company controls what counts as a threat, and any developer can build on top of the same data layer. About the Builder ChainGuard is built by a solo, full-stack developer with hands-on experience across web3 dApp and bounty-platform development.
